Project Description: This church expansion and renovation for the Vietnamese Martyrs Parish is Phase II and III of their overall master plan, with Phase I being the recently finished learning center renovation on site. Phase II will begin in the Spring of 2022 and involve demolishing roughly 50% of the Parish’s existing building and construct the new church with adjacent classrooms and administrative offices, with construction totaling around 67,500 SF. Phase III will be limited to the ground floor of the existing building with approximately 27,000 SF of renovation in order to reconfigure the space with new meeting rooms and converting the existing sanctuary into a larger auditorium. The design for this church draws from the French colonial architecture of Saigon and represents an important connection for the parishioners between Tukwila and Vietnam and uses soft, earthy colors that feature warm limestone facades and terracotta colored roofs. These natural colors find harmony with the verdant riverbank that runs along three sides of the property.
